At Pega, we’re driven by a common belief that no problem is too complicated and no solution too hard to reach – not just for our clients, but for our communities, too.
Pega's commitment to our communities is brought to life through our global social impact program, PegaCares. We focus on supporting women and girls in technology, youth education and development, environmental sustainability, and urgent issues that matter most such as the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re proud to invest in the causes our employees care about and provide opportunities to support our communities year-round with our employee giving and volunteer programs. Pega matches employee donations up to $500 or equivalent to more than 1.8M charities around the world and provides two days of paid Volunteer Time Off annually. Our PegaCares program is also deeply connected to our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging initiatives, guiding our approach to nonprofit partnerships and amplifying the social impact initiatives led by our employees, including our seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
Our global approach
As a global company with more than 6,300 employees in 21 different countries, it’s important that Pega's social impact initiatives reflect the needs of all of the communities where our employees live and work. From our Poland teams’ localized response to the war in Ukraine, to our efforts to address food insecurity in Australia, to youth education initiatives in India and clean-up projects in the United States, Pega employees around the globe are empowered to support the causes most significant to them and their communities.

"At Pega, people love to help. Every year, we organize over a dozen different charity events involving people from our office, such as tree planting, organization of a children's day for hospice patients, or winter swimming to collect funds for sick children. This year was special. The groundbreaking date of February 24, 2022, which started the war beyond our eastern border in Ukraine, deeply affected people. From the first day, they were open and willing to organize help for refugees. Many people took in whole families under their roof, participated in many urban social movements, and helped to prepare meals, sort clothes and make sandwiches. Our employees also participated in the opening of a shelter in the office building next door. New grassroots actions are constantly organized by our employees, and I am proud to coordinate these projects."

"One of the reasons I joined Pega was because I wanted to work for a global company that gives back as part of their culture. I am happy that Pega provides us with the opportunity to do this. Due to COVID, there hadn’t been any group volunteer activities offered in Australia for several years. Given I'm from the Sydney office, I wanted to provide an opportunity to allow staff to participate in giving back to the community. I set a goal to have one activity per quarter and in 2022, I've managed to run three PegaCares Cooking for a Cause activities supporting disadvantaged, homeless and domestic violence shelters. In total, our group has created over 500 healthy nutritious meals for those in need, supporting Our Big Kitchen and Two Good Co. Foundation. Staff feedback has been overwhelmingly positive as we’ve gotten together in person in a meaningful way. Through our partnership with these charities, we also helped to drive momentum and provide inspiration for other teams to engage and run team building volunteer events across Pega’s other APJ office locations."

Since we had been mostly remote for the past two years, I wanted to help build a sense of community and connection amongst our department in a way that would be fun and meaningful instead of another all-day meeting in a conference room. Over the summer, I helped coordinate a clean-up project for our team with the Charles River Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that strives to make the Charles River and its parks a well-maintained network of natural urban places that invite and engage all in their use and stewardship. We trimmed overgrown vegetation, picked up trash, and painted several benches along the river, all right in front of Pega’s Cambridge office. It was an amazing opportunity for us to meet and get to know colleagues across different teams that we don’t normally work with, while supporting our PegaCares program and making an impact right in our own backyard. We all left refreshed and reenergized and look forward to volunteering together more frequently in the new year!

For the past several years, Pega has been a flagship partner of Teach for Change, a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on improving literacy and life skills among primary school children in government schools. Based in Hyderabad, the charity helps bridge the gap between government schools and private ones by providing targeted resources to build capacity and increase access to quality education. Pega sponsors the NGO’s literacy program, digital centers, and reading rooms. This year as part of Teach for Change’s Children’s Day competitions, Pega India organized a culmination event for 175 student finalists selected from over 40,257 students from 372 government schools in four states (Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu). We were thrilled to witness eye-catching dance performances, outstanding singing talents, creative paintings, and brilliant Spelling Bee talents of the children and celebrate their accomplishments. Working for Teach For Change has been an amazing experience. It makes us realize that good education is such an important step towards success. The dedication of the volunteers who train the government school kids is praiseworthy and the journey of the kids is inspirational. Knowing that through Pega we help thousands of kids achieve their goals gives me an immense sense of satisfaction and pride.
