"We received very, very positive feedback from our users for our pilot workflow implementation, the agreement of internal contracts. The results exceeded our expectations."
The Business Issue
Deutsche Bahn (DB) is the main German railway and transportation provider. It is a huge organization with more than 330,000 employees and 580 subsidiaries. The subsidiaries range from big international organizations, such as DB Schenker, down to hundreds of small regional operations. One of the larger subsidiaries is digital partner DB Systel, which serves IT services to all DB employees and organizations in all capabilities, such as HR, procurement, and finance.
Across DB and its subsidiaries, many internal processes are manual and lengthy. DB Systel needed a fast way to develop applications that could automate processes across all subsidiaries and functions.
The Solution
DB Systel chose Pega as its low-code intelligent automation partner. Within a few months, DB Systel and Pega set up a citizen developer community, enabling several tech-savvy DB business members from various subsidiaries and divisions to become “citizen developers” and create their own workflow solutions. The first small projects were quickly and successfully piloted. Step by step more case management projects are being implemented and many further inquiries have already been placed.
The Results
By using low-code intelligent automation, DB Systel was able to:
- Create more transparency and increased automation speed
- Reduce process lead times by 50%
- Double involved process stakeholder satisfaction rating
