The Business Issue
Erste Group is one of the largest financial services providers in Eastern Europe, with more than 16 million customers. The organization is deep into its journey to “build a digital bank.” For Erste Group, this means having a sound, efficient, and fast back office digital framework capable of providing exceptional experiences for customers and employees.
While undergoing this transformation, the bank faced the challenge of transforming its previous working processes into a new digital-first model capable of streamlining operations and helping the bank make smarter decisions.
The Solution
Erste Group partnered with Pega to modernize its operations and simplify work at scale. Using best practices from various HR methodologies, the bank has onboarded six Pega development teams to support the initiative.
The flexibility of the Pega Platform allows these development teams to work in a way that fits each individual group. While they all shared a foundation in estimation, planning, and requirements gathering, each team is allowed to operate in a way that will best serve its specific business goals.
The Results
The Pega teams at Erste Group scaled from the first MVP in 2019 to become one of the largest digital operations transformation initiatives in the Eastern European market.
One of the company’s biggest success stories so far has been building an automation framework using Pega. The bank is now using this framework to reduce manual testing efforts and increase software quality.
