Government Empowered 2019: Utilizing Pega and rules-based technology to automate transactions
The Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) of the FBI is responsible for conducting background checks for firearms purchases via the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Facing an increasing volume of NICS transactions and the need for accuracy and timeliness, CJIS is utilizing Pega to perform rules-based decision making and enable automated, accurate eligibility determinations. This session will illustrate the path taken when an individual attempts to purchase a firearm and how Pega has provided the FBI with the capability to make rules-based decisions automatically based on historical data. This improvement increases quality and reduces the workload and time required to make a determination.
