Principal Cloud Development Engineer (Multiple Openings)

The Principal Cloud Development Engineer will bring energy, enthusiasm and technical proficiencies to an organization that takes pride in delivering high-quality software in the Cloud. You will design, develop and maintain the products in the Cloud space that compete with the largest software companies in the world. In this role, you will work with members of the Cloud Customer Experience team to productize new technologies and enhance existing processes and procedures through documentation and implementation of new technologies.
What You'll Do at Pega:
Work on complex problems that will require the design and development of high-quality software products in the cloud space which are fit for the purpose described by the technical requirements. Lead projects of complex scope involving stakeholders from across the company. Provide technical thought leadership to advance the capabilities of the product and resolve complex issues. Troubleshoot, debug and maintain existing code base, and provide assistance to the operations team in order to quickly address critical client incidents. Work with Quality Assurance to develop test plans and strategies to improve the quality of the software. Follow documented development standards for all coding. Follow TDD practices when developing unit & integration tests. Learn new technologies as required. Operate in the SCRUM methodology by working with other team members and Product Management to create new products, features, and releases. Actively participate in SCRUM practices such as sprint grooming, planning, reviews, ad hoc meetings, and retrospectives focusing on continuous improvement. Mentor and coach junior team members. Provide technical leadership and oversight to the team.
What You've Accomplished:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study, and
- 6 years of experience in any job title/occupation/position involving Software Engineering or Cloud Development.
- Will accept Master’s degree and 4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience.
- Experience specified must include 4 years of experience with each of the following:
- Cloud experience including AWS, GCP or Azure; and
- Developing highly available, distributed and scalable applications in Java.
- Experience specified must include 2 years of experience with each of the following:
- Creating multithreading microservices in Go;
- Docker containers and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Apache Mesos, AWS Fargate, etc.);
- Developing operating system scripts using Linux Bash shell, Windows PowerShell or similar;
- Relational database management systems; and
- An agile methodology.
- Experience specified must also include 1 year of experience with:
- AWS RDS or GCP CloudSQL; and
- Source control system such as Git, SVN or CVS.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.
- Must live within normal commuting distance from the Pegasystems Inc. office in Waltham, MA.
