The Business Issue
The Strata Building Bond and Inspections Scheme (SBBIS) is a regulatory initiative introduced in New South Wales (NSW), Australia that provides protection for owners of new multi-story residential buildings.
The SBBIS was implemented to help protect consumers and restore confidence in the quality of multi-story residential buildings. However, manual and paper-based processes involved in managing building bonds posed challenges. Applicants needed to fill out numerous paper forms and rely on manual monitoring of timelines and due dates – making the process labor-intensive, complex, and inefficient.
The Solution
To address these challenges, the NSW Government modernized the SBBIS by transforming with digital solutions. They developed the Strata Hub, an online platform, and the SBBIS Inspect app – both powered by the Pega Platform™.
The Strata Hub streamlined data inputs and improved cybersecurity. Even better, it now pre-fills known data when constituents submit an application and supports compliance with built-in tracking. The SBBIS Inspect app enables building inspectors to capture necessary data and evidence on-site, eliminating the need for manual filing of reports.
The Results
Strata Hub:
- Replaced 36 manual forms
- Streamlines required data inputs and pre-fills known data
- Supports 110,000+ unique visitors a week

- Modernized the way NSW building inspectors complete reports
