Senior Principal Data Architect, Platform Engineering
Meet Our Team:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Architect to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database engineering and administration, public cloud technologies, and DevOps practices. You will work alongside Application, Systems, Network, Database, Storage, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead the Data Architecture guild and be a key contributor to the next-generation platform data capabilities, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
This position is based out of our Waltham, MA headquarters
Picture Yourself at Pega:
At Pega, you will be responsible for designing and developing the data platform architecture and ensuring that it meets scalability, performance, reliability, and security requirements. You'll collaborate with development teams to optimize performance and drive design and delivery of medium-complex features independently.
As part of the team, you'll monitor and respond to trends in production workload performance before they become problems and develop strategies to enforce data governance policies ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
You will stay at the cutting edge of technology by keeping up with the latest trends in areas such as cloud computing, big data, and AI, and bring these innovations to the table.
What You'll Do at Pega:
• Design and develop features in database query planning, optimization, and execution.
• Collaborate with teams across disciplines (Application, Systems, Network, Database, Storage, etc.) to deliver innovative solutions.
• Lead the Data Architecture guild.
• Monitor and respond to production workload performance trends.
• Partner with Development teams to design and tune products for optimal performance and scalability.
• Design and develop the data platform architecture ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Drive the design and delivery of complex features independently.
• Develop strategies for enforcing data governance policies.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies in data architecture, big data, cloud computing, and AI.
What You've Accomplished:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator (DBA).
• Strong proficiency in SQL coding and Java.
• Expertise in database and SQL performance tuning.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database.
• Broad and deep knowledge of at least 2 relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with production incident management and root cause analysis.
• Experience in working with mission-critical distributed systems.
• DevOps experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS.
• Working knowledge of software development life cycle phases.
• Ability to innovate and deliver initiatives from conception to completion.
• Experience with highly scalable and available systems.
• Experience with latest data lake house technology.
